As our central idea (advancement in technology and communication lead to gadget development) and unit is based on gadget development, I recently visited the website that is:

This website gave me valuable insights about advancements in technology and how it is useful in our daily life. I learnt about women safety and security through today’s technological advancements. I learnt about five new wearable technologies that can be activated at any time. I’d like share one of them and that is: Safelet: the safelet has two buttons on the side that the person/user can press to send a message to contact the guardian network. If there is high danger it can help the family and friends can contact an emergency number like the ambulance. Learning from experts We had a guest speaker session on safety gadgets used in a bank and it was conducted by Mr. Momin. He helped us cover all the four lines of inquiry. He also gave us information about different gadgets which we use on a regular basis and we do not notice them. He shared its impacts and how it affects the human life like how humans are getting dependent on gadgets and how gadgets can be used for both bad and good purposes depending on the person who used them. He shared some measures with us from which one is that when we’re using a biometric door lock or electronic safe, we should not say the password to anyone except to the one who lives with you. You should keep a strong password so that no one can hack the password/pin. I reflected on my prior understanding and I hope you also did reflect on the same. The students and teachers of grade 5 always await the most interesting part of the academic year which is the exhibition unit. It is a platform for us to showcase our understanding of the PYP essential elements. Being the 21st century learners, we brainstormed through different issues faced by people across the globe. Later, we collaboratively decided that Gadget addiction is apt as it is a local, national and global issue. We have begun with our exhibition journey with lot of curiosity and enthusiasm. There were different questions popping in our mind about the issue of gadget addiction. Few major questions that were driving us towards our inquiry were what are the 21st gadgets? How can we make sure that we are not addicted to them? How can we use gadgets constructively? and more. Being true PYPians we have started researching through various websites like makersempire.com, teach hub .com, and many more. We are now looking forward to inquire further through guest speaker sessions and field trips.
